Would this be the only part that would be affected or should I reconfigure the MySQL Server and do a reinstall of the forums?
Go through any other tables with data in them and see if the id for those (will always be the first column I think) increments in the same way... if those are broken too I'd probably reconfigure and reinstall, just to make sure everything's OK.
