As the title says I followed the instructions:

# Using an ftp client (FlashFXP, FileZilla, SmartFTP), upload the contents of the 'Upload' directory to the directory in which you have a previous version of MyBB installed, with the exception of uploading of the following file:
./inc/settings.php

Still I lose all settings

What do you mean by 'lose' them...?? Are they back to defaults?? What?? The only way you can 'lose' them is if the values are all changed in the database and I can't see how or why that would happen.
