My swimming forum is kind of inactive, and I am having trouble promoting it (I promote it a lot via Yahoo Answers, but that seems the only option).
I want to do a contest to help activity, and have already chosen a prize (a $25 gift certificate to SwimOutlet.com)
There are several popular choices for forum contests, such as posting + referral contests - but I'm worried that there will only be a few entrants because of my inactivity.
So should I just keep on trying to promote without a contest?
Or should I just go with the contest, have few results, but gain a loyal member (the winner will probably stick around, but that's still a gamble).
Since I am having trouble with organic traffic, I may try some payed forum posting services as well. I'm also considering AdWords.
