I have been using GIMP lately.
The borders are really not smooth and are to much used.

. Well still I think you have overused the borders, to many containers...
Do you complete your designs on GIMP/Photoshop or do you make a base then start your design?
IMO, it's too rounded, there is also a place where the gradient of the second bg pretty much contrasts with the actual background, at least I know it bugs me. Seems like this preview was done badly, it's pretty sloppy. I suggest making a grid in which ever software you feel comfortable.
It's one thing to make an image it's another to actually incorporate it into a working theme. This is where a design like yours imho will fail. When it comes down to reality this won't be a great theme.
