Full Version: Note on telling users to downgrade or reinstall their forum

Hello community members,

I've read through many support threads and I am finding dozens of people telling users to downgrade. Downgrading is NEVER the solution - In fact you only make it harder on us, the Support Staff.

If you see anyone telling other users to downgrade to solve their problem, please politely tell them to ignore that instruction and point them to this thread.

Similarly, reinstalling forums is not advice that should be followed unless advised by a staff member, under very extreme circumstances. Reinstalling will erase your forum data (not everybody realises this) and is only ever needed if your database is a complete and utter mess, and only then if every other possible solution has been attempted, it is not the solution for general issues people have.

Please avoid suggesting or following advice to downgrade or reinstall your forum.

We would like to thank everyone who continues to professionally dedicate their time and energy to the MyBB Support Forums.
