A friend got a virus, which was making fake virus popups (Worm.Win32.Netsky) and I removed all the virus files, but the virus changed the Userinit executable, so now I can't login. How can I access the registry to change the key? I am trying to use BartPE's boot disc, but I can't seem to load the C:\ hive.
Anyone know how to do it?
what os is this and can you boot up at all
if so what infor do you get
Linux my friend
I am pretty sure Knoppix
http://www.knoppix.net/ has a Windows registry editor on the Live CD, otherwise there are other distros I'm sure.
I got the boot disc working. Needed to install a Sata driver. Trying to find the key now...
And which torrent would I need for the knoppix live cd?
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Userinit
Autoruns, it pwns.

Resets passwords and edits the registry. It's basically linux but about 3mb :p
This doesn't work on the latest Windows 10. Any suggestion?
Almost a 7 year old thread, probably isn't going to work. A Windows forum would probably be a better place to ask than a 7 year old thread on these forums of all places.
