I think only minor changes will be needed if you customize every bit of it.

Anyways @op why you making a theme for 1.6 so early? kinda pointless if you ask me.

I've installed one of my own themes on 1.6 with no issues. A few templates were added as well as a few CSS classes. I would wait until it's released to work on any specific theme for it.

Two major CSS classes added are the usercp_notepad class and the hiddenrow class. There are also some minor template changes that add new variables and minor CSS changes.
