A certain group can view a forum section but cannot read the threads in it.

This is already a feature of MyBB.

Show me show me.

AdminCenter:
Forum & Posts -> 'Your Forum' -> [ Options ] Permissions -> Set Permissions

There you have a differentiation of:

Can view forum?
Can view threads within forum?

Setting the permissions for viewing the threads is most important i think..

If they can see a certain area fine but seeing the content is not OK,in most cases people not authorized would see an EMPTY SECTION if they went in there.. (Not having access to the threads)

Hopefully with 1.6 the permissions maxtrix will be fix so we don't need this fix. Although I'm glad to see this because I've wanted to do this in the past .

This solution doesn't seem to work for me but I find it strange that after I made an update from 1.4.8 to 1.4.11 this option has gone.

I had my board set to guest can view the forums and the subject titles of the posts but not read the postst themelves. Now this seems to have changed. Why this usefull option has been removed is a mysterie to me.

I haven''t had the chance yet to check 1.6 but if it has it, that would be a nice addition.

That is strange. I mean upgrading doesn''t touch the permission system as far as I know.

So can this be done or not? How can I do what I asked in the first post? If I can't then I really want this.
