I have a theme but I wanted it ducplicated so I exported it and re-imported it with a different name. Now when I go to make changes to the templates of the re-imported theme, it also makes the changes to the old theme. They aren't the same but I like coding one theme off another if they are similar. This is the problem I have.

I have been having this problem still.
My theme was imported (the original one), now I think it is creating the problem.
When I create a new template and edit the new one, it makes changes to every other template I has as well.

It doesn't really matter what one you change, just put them on different template sets, then changes to one won't affect the other.
I don't think you understand. They are using different template sets, but changing one template set, for some reason edits every other template set.
Then you've set them up in an odd way, have you set one theme to be a parent of another??
No, none are set as parents, they all use the mybb master style.
Can you printscreen the list of themes??
They are all custom, so you wouldn't know any.
