I couldn't find the answer on Wikipedia. What is "offshore hosting"? Does it differ from.. uhh.. onshore hosting?
offshore hosting is a server in a different country, mainly used to host hacking, porn or other illegal sites.
Offshore hosting is servers located outside the US where hosting companies don't have to worry about DMCA notices and copyrighted content,etc.

Technically offshore doesn't let you escape the law at all times either.

It many places it is. Even in the states some places had laws against it.

That's complete BS, nowhere in the US is porn illegal. Child porn, however, is illegal everywhere in the US.
