I find my problem to be a little strange, and I'm convinced it might just be my browser, but I'll try to explain it anyway.

Whenever I do something (posting, login, moving posts, changing themes, etc. etc.) the changes are never immediately taken. I always have to manually refresh for everything to work properly.
Its a bit of a nuisance, and I can only assume my other users have to manually refresh too.

Is there any way to fix this auto-updating issue, or do I just have to deal with pressing F5 all the time?

Its not just you, it happened for me as well. Does your server have any special page caching systems or anything? I don't really have much advice to offer you here but I'm sure someone else can shed some more light on this.
