i was reading the wiki on mybb ( http://wiki.mybboard.net/index.php/Porta...the_Portal ), and it said that mybb has a built in (simple) portal that you could access at mybb/portal.

To quote "By default there are no links to the portal. To access the portal manually, go to http://www.yoursite.com/path/to/mybb/portal.php."

but when i launch it via the web browser, it gives me an error: mybb/inc/languages/english/portalrep.lang.php does not exist

so, is there a built in portal? how do i access? or am i just missing some files? this lang.php file isnt in the install package for 1.4.11 either.

im using 1.4.11, site url is http://forums.clannbs.net

thanks,

mark
I think you have plugins that are messing things up, can you try disabling any newly enabled plugins. Also, it says that I am banned even though I have never been on your site so something is obviously messed up there and your probably loosing traffic because of it.
It tells me that $forumdir is invalid. Have you set your board URL in the ACP settings to http://forums.clannbs.net/ ?
$forumdir is defined in portal.php itself. The reason that language file isn't in 1.4.11 is because it's a plugin language file.

does that mean i need a plugin or another language file to make it work? im not sure what to do here.

---------------

TimB. - i'll try disabling the plugins to see, thanks! As far as the ban goes, i should have turned that off before i posted (i forgot). we have been having issues with one character using an anonymizer, so i banned all the places he has been using - must of caught you in the same net. its off now Smile

RiverThief - yeah, i got that error too this morning. turns out the portal.php file changed somehow; i re copied the old one over, and now i get the original error message i posted. that was very odd....

[edit] i deinstalled plugins, one at a time, and found the culprit! All is working now!
thanks for the help!

You already have a plugin, you're just missing the language file it came with, you haven't uploaded it. If you upload that file, the plugin will work, and the error will go.
