Here is my shameless plug! Rolleyes

Well this is my site: http://www.asianadventures.org . The focus of the site is to serve as a community for those wishing to travel/visit/ relocate to Asia, more so South East Asia.

I know I have some improving to do, but think it is a decent effort.

I need to update my site. Its had this look for over a year. So suggestions would be appreciated.

One issue I need some support with is my users. They all seem to register but only have had one user who consistently posts ( but hasn't in a while). Some just register but do not post while others have one or two posts. WTF? At least I am getting users to register. But there is no point if they are not going to post anything.

Furthermore, I suspect some them to be spammers because they have product links as their signatures and I also suspect some of these users to have multiple usernames because they post in the same style. How do you manage these things on your forum?

At this point I would really like to improve the front page. IMO, it is too generic. So suggestions on making it more appealing/ engaging would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the site was done using Dreamweaver CS3. In addition to MyBB I used Gallery - http://gallery.menalto.com/ - for my Photo area.

Ideally, I would like to make some quick changes that would make a difference as I do not have a lot of time to work on it.

Thanks
Great potential,
tho the looks are awful :/
Any other input regarding my site?

Thanks.
I agree it has some serious potential, but you should get a whole new design. The current one is terrible, sorry to say that. You could increase registrations, traffic and much more.

Have any suggestions for design?

I been contemplating taking the landing page off and using the forum as the landing page.

Also, which part looks terrible? The whole thing or which part specifically?

Thanks
It looks like it was designed in 1994 :/

Why are you using tables, and what's all that javascript for?

First of all, I am a novice. This is my first site. I used Dreamweaver CS3 to design the site so that is probably where all the tables and javascript came from.

I have been told it looks like it was designed in 1994! Suggestions would be more helpful though!Smile
Please, please, please spend 100-300 dollars in a awesome design! It will boost your forum and website up so much.

I don't think he needs to spend that much. Actually now that I think about it using 2 scripts and one just html it might to get them all to match perfectly.

Although I would defiantly learn some photoshop, html, and css. With these you can make a great a design and then easily make it work with your forum and gallery as well. w3cschools is great for html and css. I would also recommend pixel2life.com for all three though.
Maybe consider using a cms as the frontpage? Like joomla...There are lots of premade templates for joomla. Also there is an extension called jfusion which allows your members to login from joomla and be logged into mybb. I would also consider getting a different mybb theme.

As for the spammers, what I do is check their information with
http://www.projecthoneypot.org/
http://www.stopforumspam.com/
If they show up then I ban them. Also make sure you check mybb for antispam plugins. I think there is a couple.
