If you can get a database backup and a copy of that version of IPB then yes I think it would be possible but you would first need to set up a copy of your forum in IPB on your new hosting to then convert to MyBB.

The staff at iPBFree are <idiots>, I contacted them several times over the past two weeks, but never got a reply.

Actually he doesn't even need a copy of the forum code. The merger (conversion) doesn't require anything but the db and access to the "uploaded" files like attachments.

If he has ftp access he could always get his own db login info and merge from the remote db... I've done that a few times.

hmm, I doubt it since ipbfree is one of those hosts that just give you a forum. I'm surprised they don't even offer a option to pay get the db like most do.
