There's a sidebar plugin for SMF that shows the last 10 threads and threads you haven't clicked on have a little NEW button next to them. Then when you've read the thread it disappears. Here's what it looks like

A plugin like this with a simple shoutbox above it would awesome.
YES, yes I do know there is a sidebar for MyBB but it simply displays the last 10 posts and resizing it always messes up my site.
