I think the banner has too much stuff going on. Also it looks like there is too many forums. Maybe have some subforums so you don't have to scroll all the way down? That way no cut down is needed. I use this plugin to keep it looking more organized. http://www.mybbcentral.com/thread-1516.html It puts the subforums in columns like vbulletin. (You have to pay a subscription fee to download though but I think its worth it.)
