Greetings!

I'm almost finished my theme, however I'm stuck on the buttons sections.

How do I make the forum buttons/bits a button that hovers, however, is not an image? I've seen this in the novus cardinal theme and like it very much. It's clean, simple, and looks great.

Can someone assist me with this?

I have managed to change all postbits but the "New Thread" and "New Reply" ones, any idea why these aren't changing?

Have you edited the showthread_newreply, showthread_newreply_closed, and forumdisplay_newthread templates?
