On a side note, it sounds like you were getting DOSed Mark. You could have stopped it very easily if you wanted to.

Oh no we weren't. Someone was trying to gain root access, and we sent the 4mb pings to them.

You have obviously never been hacked.

If you had you would realise what an impact hackers have to profesional companies and businesses whose websites are their main gateway to customers. If their site gets hacked they get bad reputation, loose money and have to spend more money fixing the damage that that hacker has done, and trying to prevent it happening again.

Hacking is an internet evil. It must be stopped.

Even the US President Barrak Obama realises what a huge problem hacking is.
