I installed Mybb successfully and then logged into the Admin Control Panel, however everytime I went to any option such as "add new forum" or "templates" I got the following:

I ended up deleting the installation because I changed my mind and wanted it on a different domain, after doing the second installation I remember that I needed to chmod all those files to allow PHP to access them. I did that as per the installation guide, but still get that error in the Admin Control Panel.
What does the error mean? The same thing has happened on 2 different installations. The only thing I can think of is to re download the setup file.
Is there something I've missed?

Actually after checking, I get the same error when I try to create a new user or even edit my account to change my password. Unfortunately I use a "universal password" so I'd be rather stupid to post the password to my account here.
I'm using Firefox, the same thing happens in Internet Explorer.
Could be mod_security, see sticky thread, but a 406 is a pretty unusual error...
Well 406 is the "not acceptable" error and is mentioned in that mod_security wiki.
Therefore it probably does have something to do with it.

The Solution - MyBB 1.4.x and newer
The htaccess.txt that comes with the MyBB package disables mod_security by default. If you haven't already, rename the htaccess.txt file to ".htaccess"
I can't load the PHP info page because it gives me that error, is there another way I can check that it is installed?
I renamed my htacess file, so it is now .htaccess but that hasn't changed anything.
I couldn't find the error log in the root directory, but I found the one in Cpanel, I'll post it as it mentions all the errors I'm getting.

There was never a problem logging in. However once I log in I get an error message when I try to go to certain pages.

oops, my bad, I should have read it more thoroughly.
Who is your website hosted with?
Create a new user with admin permissions, PM the login details to Polar bear or another support team member, they'll assist you.
