I would imagine quite a lot, going by this thread http://community.mybboard.net/thread-29439.html I would say hosting is at least a few hundred a month and according to this post audits aren't cheap either: http://community.mybboard.net/thread-371...#pid456417

I always wonder how MyBBoard scrambles enough money to make this possible. I think they should make the option of donating more publicly and maybe have on the front page (sidebar) a donate module where you can donate an amount via PayPal and shows the last 5-10 donations with the Member name if they want.
It will surely boost of the donations.

Chris Boulton pays whatever isn't covered by donations or ad revenue. There is a link titled "Support MyBB" on the about page which details how to donate.

Dunno about US, but in Germany you can get an Intel i7 quad core, 8GB RAM, 2x750GB HDD, 100MBit, 2TB traffic, for as little as 49€/month and 15€ per additional TB of traffic (or alternatively, unlimited traffic with 10MBit). http://www.hetzner.de/en
I don't think that mybboard.net uses that much...

That doesn't mean the host itself will be reliable or competent though. Hardware is generally cheap. It's up-time, support, and professionalism that you pay for in the long run.

In fact, I think MyBB's server is way more powerful than required for the task, but I can understand the decisions made.(2010-03-09, 01:10 AM)TimB.
