ACP -> Templates & style -> templates -> your template -> index template -> index_stats
Find:

{$lang->stats_numusers}<br />
{$lang->stats_newestuser}<br />

Replace with

<!-- {$lang->stats_numusers}<br />
{$lang->stats_newestuser}<br /> -->
