A few days ago, I prepared to move my MyBB installation at http://www.bmwrsm.org/forums/ to new hosting for the domain. First, I upgraded to the latest version of 1.4.11. Then I backed up the MyBB installation and sql database and moved the installation to the new hosting for the domain. I uploaded the backup to the new hosting (dns had been updated), I restored the database, and updated the config.php settings for the new location. I finally got the forum to come up after running the upgrade again. Shortly after that, I began receiving this message:

"The maximum server load limit has been reached. Please check back later once the server is less busy."

I can't login to the forums and this is all I can get. I searched the community forums for this message and couldn't find anything posted on it. I'm not sure what this is a symptom of. I'm sure there is something that is still not set up or configured properly. I've rechecked the config.php settings and I don't see anything in the settings.php that would have anything to do with this.

I've also gone back through the forums directories and files and chmod to 755 and 644 respectively as well as the specific chmods outlined in the installation/upgrade instructions.

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction of why I'm receiving this message. The hosting is a hostgator account and I'm already running another MyBB in another account.

Thank you,
Shawn Blair
ACP > Configuration > Server and Optimization Options > *NIX Load Limiting. Obviously you'll need to edit settings.php, it's called 'load'. Change the value to 0 here, then login and change it again in the ACP.
Matt,

Thank you. That got me back online. I'm still having trouble getting into Admin functions. Admin will log in, but when I click on any menu item I get an unauthorized error (below). I've checked and double checked the permissions and they all look correct. [755 directories, 644 files, specific differences as specified in install docs]

Here's the message I get:
----------------------------------------
Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /forums/admin/index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.11 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.8i DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at www.bmwrsm.org Port 80
----------------------------------------

And, here's the output in the Server Error Log:
--------------------------------------
[Wed Mar 10 08:40:37 2010] [error] [client 65.175.253.127] File does not exist: /home/bmworg/public_html/403.shtml, referer: http://www.bmwrsm.org/forums/admin/index...ule=config

-------------------------------------

Any thoughts? I've updated the chmod in the Admin directory to the 755 and 644 several times. I tried 666 on the files and received a message about group being able to write to the files and wouldn't let me log into the admin area, so I removed it and could get back into the admin area again.

Thanks again,
Shawn Blair
Thank you, AJS. I contacted HostGator and they took care of the issue.
The maximum server load limit has been reached. Please check back later once the server is less busy.

Check your settings in admin configuration > server and optimization options. My default was 5.0 and I changed it to 0.0. Since I couldn't access the forums, I first modified the settings.php and modified the [Load] setting to 0. It was one of the first options.

That is what fixed my problem with the same error message.
