Weird.
All you need to do is upload a image named favicon.ico to your root directory, that's it, no need for any template changes, so what does that plugin actually do? :s
Some browsers just look for a file called favicon.ico I think whereas others require header code to be added.
You can do both. I see no need to install another plugin for this.
