If you're asking about how to find the user id of a user, you can usually find it in the URL of a user's profile link.
For example, if I hover my mouse over your username in the post above, I'll see this in the status bar:
The number, "20353", is the user ID (or uid).
For groups, you can do a similar thing - hover the mouse over links until you find one with a "gid=" in it.

Thanks it works for Users, I can not seem to do it for groups

Group ID is at the end of the URL when you edit the group.
