Will i lose all templates/smilies and template changes i have done if i upgrade to the new software?
From my understanding, you shouldn't lose any of that (unless you've replaced the default images, in which case you would lose the new images only if you upload the images folder)
So your pretty sure if i upload everything thats in the changed files folder i should be good?
