Hi

I am currently in the process of moving over to MyBB from vB 3.8.4

I have one quick question however regarding databases, If i used the merge script would it alter the vbulletin database to suite mybb or would it copy the info from the vbulletin database into the mybb database

Or do I simply have it wrong and I need to install mybb into the vbulletin database?

It copies the data from the vB database into the MyBB database.

So after the merge your vB database will remain unchanged.

You need a copy of your vB database (just the database) and a full installation of MyBB on your server to use the merge system.
