mod_security is not something you would install but your hosting company....they wouldn't necessarily tell you about it either...

check out

where you naturally replace the beginning with the URL to the URL of your forum....
then scroll down to find LOADED MODULES (unde apache2handler in my case)
now see if mod_security is listed there...if it is...try the .htaccess trick Michael copied here above...worked for me..

forumdirectory needs to be replaced with the path to your forums

Alternatively, you can click the "PHP Info" link in the Admin CP.
