If you want to help folks in that way, that's up to you. I'm of the opinion that we have a Search feature here for a reason, and it also states in the "forum help/guide" to look around for answers before posting.

What template did you place your code in ?
It's working.
You don't need that code because your favicon is in your root directory.
It takes some time for your Favicon to show up.
Ctrl + F5 should refresh the image cache, so you can see the new favicon.
