Should I have 'Shadow' effects like on this forum?

You mean drop shadow on the content box? If so, yes. Only do that if it's going to have a light background though.

Because black drop shadow on a dark background doesn't look good, also white drop shadow looks horrible on every background.

Looks great! Now I forgot how to get a drop shadow on the content box. I'm sure one of the more experienced theme creators would know. (Without using an image from PS)

Ooh, another suggestion. Edit the width of the content box by about 5-10px so then the background is more viewable.

I changed it to 75%.

Hmm the big ones don't look rounded - It'd be better if all the images were rounded to make the forum...

But its completely up to you.

I plan to create my own image set.

I already have my own, wouldn't match your forums colours though. :\
