Today, one of my faithful posters got banned by the Akismet plugin and I don't know why. I went to look at the options and found


But how exactly does this plugin determine what messages are spam?

Each post goes though the Akismet servers, if it thinks it's spam, it returns that it's spam and the plugin acts accordingly. Akismet is only really recommended if you're getting hit by spam, not to prevent it starting.
