Well, I downloaded a plugin named Easy Refer.

And it generates this.

I want it to have an icon infront of the text, but I dont know how.

Can anybody help?

You need to do it using CSS, look in the usercp.css file for your theme and you'll figure it out.

I don't know where to start?

Look in the User CP template.
