Hi,

I was wondering if PHP mbstring is required to run MyBB?

I can't seem to figure out how to install it, so I'm just asking if it'll run fine without it

you just have to compile it with PHP. It's like any other PHP plugin. AFAIK I doesn't conflict with anything, so it shouldn't give you any trouble.

Ask your host, I believe. If you have a VPS, you should be able to compile it yourself using WHM's easy apache.

MyBB doesn't require mbstring. But if you plan on hosting a non-english site (that requires unicode) then you might want to look into installing it.
