Am I allowed to use the following image for my own designs??

GIMP.org website).
I'm using that for my header, and I just wanted to make sure I'm allowed to use it, or if I'll have to make my own/google for some other.

I doubt it, contains their logo which is copyrighted.
I would say yes as Gimp is released under a GNU licence.
It does not.
This image doesn't contain any logo at all. And the mascot is different from the "original" one, more of a cartoon.

GIMP is released under GNU. Not their website and respective resources.
Why don't you just recreate it? I'm sure you'd be able to find that ballon thing rendered somewhere, and make a cloudy background.

Its the site is copyrighted by them, so unless the say somewhere else you can, then no sadly.
Bob Jansen made me a nice cloud background for a mybb theme I'm oh so slowly finishing. He might make something similar for you if he has time.
