As far as I know, MyBB is best suited for MySQL 4. Although it has been reported to work on MySQL 5.

I'm sure someone can confirm this.....

Yes, I can confirm that MyBB does work with mysql 5.

I think all the MySQL 5 compatibility issues have been resolved by now. If not, please report them on the bug reports forum.
