I'm having trouble installing a theme.

I don't know if the theme is the problem

The theme is not compatible with your MyBB version. MyBB RC4 and older used *.mybb files for themes. Actually, MyBB uses *.xml files for that purpose.
So you have to choose another theme or ask the author to update his theme.
