Great news! I am now thinking about developing more for MyBB in terms of mods/intergrations!

I think LGPL is closer to what MyBB community currently has with it's mix of free and commercial addons. Whether it's the right license going into the future we can only guess about.

I think Labrocca has it right - the LGPL will remove any question about the legitimacy of non-Free plugins. MyBB itself will be Free without forcing plugin authors into using a GPL-compatible license.
