Does anyone keep a list of the banners used in header of the website? And are they all free to use?
They should be free but I think you have to keep a link, just as this site does. "Header Image: View from Spencer Trail by Al_HikesAZ."
Tthey are part of the design of the website and this means they are not free. And you have to respect the license of the source image.
Most of our headers have been chosen from Flickr. If the photo isn't free for use we have obtained authorization from the author to use it on our site. The photos are subject to the licenses defined by their authors.
Use the wayback machine, usually they give credits in the background.
