Still, with a very little knowledge you can manually upgrade anyways. It isn't THAT hard, and it does sound like he knows what he's doing.

But hey, thats just my opinion based on my own skillset... I'm sure its not possible for everyone
Just because you don't need much knowledge (other than how to change code and find the code changes between the two) your gonna have the problem of the time it is going to take you, and the small mistakes while doing it will kill you. :p But I wish you luck on your endevour.
