How do I make it so that normal members can view the forum, but can't view the threads?

On the forum settings page in the permissions section. On the far right (in the Registered row) there is 'Set custom permissions'. Click that and untick can view threads.

sorry for bumping. but how can i permit the registered users to see what threads are there in a ViP forum but cannot read the thread contents.

Edit their permissions.

Do that but for registered.
