It's strange. Plugin was tested on PHP 5.4, 5.5, 5.6 and 7.0. Everything is ok.
Also, message that you pasted is not completed - I don't see any error code from database.

I just tried installing 1.6 and am getting the following error when trying to activate it in AdminCP.
MyBB has experienced an internal SQL error and cannot continue.
SQL Error:
1366 - Incorrect integer value: 'NULL' for column 'gid' at row 1
Query:
INSERT INTO mybb_settinggroups (`gid`,`name`,`title`,`description`,`disporder`,`isdefault`) VALUES ('NULL','unreadPosts','View Unread Posts','Settings for plugin \"View Unread Posts\"',105,'0')

I just installed the latest version of your plugin on my board (board version 1.8.10, plugin version 1.7, PHP v. 5.6.29). It is installed and activated, I can view and change settings pertaining to it in the ACP but no matter what I try the plugin does not appear to work. It simply does not show up on the forum. I have tried different versions, different themes (default and multiple 3rd party) but nothing works. Any suggestions?
Try change theme to default and then reinstall plugin.
Also, do you have any unread posts on your board?

Still not working, on default theme, complete uninstall and reinstall of the plugin. It just doesn't show up.
Ok, I checked that with MyBB 1.8.10 and activation functions need updates.
I will make it today.
