EDIT:
As I wrote above, I switch back to version 1.11 and no issues so far. Only 1.12 is not working for me...
Hm.. with version 1.11 I observed some issues on two othr boards, so no, it wasn't ok. New version uses new option to mark posts as read, but I also discovered strange MyBB behavior in mysq shutdown functions.

I can say only this: I'm tired, so tired to analyze MyBB, make changes etc again.
I will add one fix for mod tools, but otherwise, treat this mod as abanoned.
So v1.13 will fix my issue? I can try and let you know the result. I will update later today when I get home.
Can't confirm. Just try, and if not, use 1.11.
Ok, v1.13 tested and without any issue so far. Thank xou
Ok, nice to hear Smile
Unfortunately had to revert back to v1.11. Yes, v1.11 has few cons (counter is updated after page realoding) but it displays correct amount of unread posts.

v1.13 is much much better than 1.12 - no more self post marking as unread and in 7 from 10 cases counter is fine. However sometime is display incorrect value and display read posts as unread. Maybe just a small bug in code?
I have now admin access to one medium board and can't reproduce these issues. Sorry, but I don't know your board specification and can't predict any possible configuration (other plugins, board settings etc). Mybb should have this as build-in function, not limited to hooks system in plugins.

As I wrote before, please treat this plugin as abandoned and feel free to fork, modify to make it compatible with you forum, code is open source.
I can confirm that 1.13 hs got issues - a member has reported that he is seeing read posts as unread

So I will likely downgrade to v1.11, but it is such a shame that it is abandoned when it is such a vital plugin for forums; I bet most have it implemented - is anyone willing to take it up?

I guess I could have a go, but my coding skills are in practise mode at best
Same here, downgraded to v1.11 which is fine (I just miss the ajax counter refresh from 1.12+)
