This can also be caused by banning via the htaccess and having extremely long ranges or even possibly having to many range in place.
I use direct admin myself, and when i first installed mybb i had the same issue but it was actually due to my htaccess and my denys. Maybe it may be the same issue with you and w/e you use but its just a suggestion to re-read your htaccess file and see if that can be the cause of it.
