I am just wondering, is author's copyright removal is legal?
because I found a forum that is using "FreshBlue_mybb_1.4" theme and they changed the copyright of the author and replaced with their own.

Check out this: http://www.teammodz.net

I want MyBB team to take immediate action for this illegal activity of the user "CoNfLiCt".

Regards,
Anurag
The author must send a Cease and desist to the host.
Umm, a theme doesn't have anything to do with mybb. They are legally allowed to remove the copyright for mybb.

But, the theme depends on the authors license and thus has nothing to do with mybb.
That specific theme is released under the Creative Commons Licence. Therefore it does need a copyright notice is one is there. Regardless though we can't do much other than contact the owner of the site and/or the owner.

I already PMed the theme creator Smile About a day ago now XD
I think its pretty awesome how everyone works together to insure the creators of plugins and mods get there copyright/credit Smile

while mybb can only ask that the author/site owner put the copyright back, they can not force them to, all mybb can do is not offer support to that particular domain.

however, it appears that the basic powered by is back in place
No but the author could just make their host close the site down as it infringes copyright. No host will want a law suit on their hands.

This is advice to all plugin/theme owners. Send the infringing site a cease and desist. But the chances are they'll ignore it, or not know what it is. Write on the C&D that you expect a reply in 14 days. If you don't get one, go to the host.
A host will know what a C&Dis and they'll probably honour it immediately. Unless the host is an offshore host, eg in Sweden, where copyright laws are different
