The design on your forum pretty much ruined it for me.

Perhaps the forum looks awkward on a different browser. I'll fix it if that's the case. Can you explain aspects of the forum that you disliked?

There would be one ad on every single page of the website, including the forums.

Yes, that would be the size. Keep in mind, your ad would load get thousands of impressions per day. You can make it an animated gif to pop out more if you want, or for only $3, I can make the banner for you.
