No, no, this doesn't mean ads will appear when you're watching videos. Or comments and whatnot for that matter. Ads are strategically placed to efficiently utilize space, give YouTubers a chance to promote their video, as well as allow me to cover my operating costs.
In short, ads will only appear on the live page, where links to videos already exist. Advertising, however, allows for your video to remain on the page, as well as be recognized as a sponsor.
