Full Version: Guidelines for Requests/Services/Jobs
You're currently viewing a stripped down version of our content. View the full version with proper formatting.
The aim of this forum is to provide a marketplace for MyBB specific products that are not catered to by other classified providers.

To aid this aim we are introducing strict new rules to govern this forum, many of which are vastly different to those that have previously been in place.

Below are some examples of what can be advertised here:
  • Developed MyBB powered websites
  • (1) Domain names that contain the term "MyBB" or "MyBulletinBoard" and have been registered for at least 3 months
  • Offerings & Requests for MyBB theme and modification development both paid and free
  • Partnership and forum staff openings
  • Offerings & Requests for paid posting
  • (2) MyBB specific hosting or Multiforum style hosting which offers MyBB support

Advertising the following is explicitly prohibited:
We believe the following products are better advertised through other services such as eBay, Flippa or Digital Point forums.
  • Complete websites that are not directly related to or powered by MyBB
  • Domain names that do not meet the conditions of point (1)
  • Web hosting which does not meet the conditions of point (2)
  • Competitions or raffles, though you may advertise these through your showcase thread
  • Physical goods
  • Forum databases that are not sold as part of a complete website

Any products that are not mentioned above may be advertised at the sole discretion of the MyBB group and we reserve the right to remove any advertisements that we believe are not suitable immediately and without warning.

Listing your product:
We recommend you follow a post layout similar to this:

Introduction: Include any background information to your offer or request
Details: List the specific details of your product or your request
Conditions: Name any conditions to the deal
Contact details: Your preferred method of contact

You may optionally specify if you would like offers made publicly or privately

Rules for advertisers:
  • You may only make one thread per offering or request
  • You may only bump any of your threads a maximum of three (3) times, after which your thread will be locked
  • You must explain yourself as clearly as possible; any attempt to be deceptive will result in immediate removal of your thread and the possibility of further consequences.
  • You are only permitted to post one link in your thread, you may also link to a page listing further terms and conditions of your offer but this cannot be substituted for a second link. You may post links in replies but only if they are used to clarify in direct response to a question.
  • If you make any changes to your product or request, you must outline your changes either in a new reply or in a note at the bottom of your description
  • You must follow through and be honest with any deals you enter into
  • Any websites involved must meet the support eligibility requirements
  • You must not make a new thread if your existing thread has been closed for breaching these rules.

Responding to offers or requests:

This forum is not for general discussion and any posts that are not directly related to the advertisment will be removed.
To clarify what is directly related, only the following two types of replies are permitted:
  • Offers, if the advertisement has not specified that offers be private
  • Questions seeking clarification about the product or offer

Rules for replying:
  • If the buyer has specified that offers must be either public or private you must obey their preference
  • No feedback or discussion other than offers or questions are allowed
  • Only make an offer if you are serious and able to fulfill your offer

Consequences and complaints:

Consequences of failing to obey these guidelines
If you fail to observe any of the conditions above, we may take any action we deem appropriate including but not limited to closing or deleting your thread with or without warning. We may also issue written warnings via PM and in extreme or repeated cases, issue bans or remove your ability to use the requests/services/jobs forum.

Complaints arising from deals here
If you feel that the other party has been unfair or untruthful in a transaction initiated on this forum we ask that you first try and resolve it yourself through discussion and negotiation. If your situation cannot be resolved this way, please contact Ryan Loos or Tim B. with detailed evidence to support your claims. If we feel misconduct has occurred we may issue warnings, bans or suspensions from the requests/services/jobs forum however we don't have any power beyond this so if you feel the issue is significant enough please take it up with the appropriate authorities.

If you come across any issues within this forum please do not hesitate to bring them to our attention by reporting them.

We reserve the right to modify these rules & guidelines at any time and apply these modifications to all posts, even if they predate the changes.

Note: Should you have any questions or comments about this thread or any of the other new policies please post them here.

Yours sincerely, the MyBB team.

If you wish to contact staff about any of these rules please use the Private Inquiries forum.
In order to increase compliance with the privacy laws in various countries which require personal data to be used for the specific purpose for which it was collected we will no longer allow forum databases to be advertised separate from the website they came from, the converse is also true in that we will not permit requests to buy databases seperatley.

On most forums the email address and often date of birth and gender are collected from users and these are all considered to be personal information that is protected under the privacy laws of numerous countries. In our opinion the practice of buying a database to integrate the user base into your own forum contravenes these laws because their personal information is being used for a website other than the one they consensually provided their information for.

This change will also help to reduce cases of one database being sold to multiple buyers which we believe is a fundamental misuse of user data.

Some of the legislation taken into account:
If you have any questions regarding these changes please direct them to the Private Inquiries forum.

I'd like to point out and emphasize the above emboldened rules; only offers and clarifications are allowed as replies in this forum. We have noticed an increasing amount of criticism of the offer and/or forum and will be cracking down on this behavior. Not following these rules may result in PM reminders, warnings, and in extreme cases, banning from the R/S/J forum.

Thank you for your cooperation and continuing support of the MyBB project.
