I know that wordpress have many auto-backup-plugins. I hope mybb will have a plugin that can backup source code and data base automatically.
does your host not offer backups via your control panel? that will handle DB, files and related permissions. if so, then your host control panel probably also offers CRON or other scheduled task options that you can use to run backups.

If you want automatic backup your mybb database, you can use mybb built-in task system backup feature.

And database is really all you need. Files can be reobtained easily enough... except perhaps attachments.
You don't want to rely on anything but a cron job to do a backup.

my hosting control panel isn't cpanel, it have cron-jobs but some commands are disabled so code in this topic
