When I refresh the homepage of my forum, pushing very quickly "F5", the server load grows up very quickly...
I have already had a "Server Load" > 7.00 (only me on the forum !).
You are actually simulating a lot of users if you are pressing it quickly. And it also depends on the server you are using. Are you on a shared host or localhost? Both have their own problems with resources and bottlenecks.

Yes, I know, a lot of users... but everyone can do this on the Internet... It's a real problem !
We may probably fight against this problem.
I have my own server, on my own connection (ADSL2+).
It's a virtual host (VMWare) on a 2,66 Ghz CPU, and 160 MB RAM.
On another computer (not virtual host), P4 1,8 Ghz & 512 MB RAM that's the same problem.
MySQLD isn't killed (enough memory), but it's very very slow, and one time the computer has crashed. (necessary to reboot).
