Is it possible to save all our current templates (current theme, global templates etc..)

This would be helpful if after upgrading from 1.4 to 1.6 an admin notices a problem or something missing they would have access to the old templates.

I don't think global templates will get touched anyway, and the upgrade won't remove any edits you've made, you'll just need to revert templates yourself, so you'd be able to see your edits still after you upgrade.

Oh ok , would it be a good idea to save all our custom themes + templates (Export theme) ? Just as a back up.

When you backup your database your theme will be saved in there any way (one of the advantages of the MyBB template system). It wouldn't do any harm to do a separate export any way though if you wish.
