When showing the thread, I would like to remove/hide the user/group title so that it only shows the rank/group image. In what template file am I able to edit the user section of the threads?

Edit the postbit (under Post Bit Templates, I believe), and don't forget to edit posbit_classic too if you want thte change to be reflected there.

Remove the this code from both templates mentioned above
